Bloomberg: Apple Watch and AirPods with cameras and integrated AI may not be available until 2027 at the earliest

In late March, Mark Gurman revealed that Apple plans to equip its AirPods smartwatch and headphones with built-in cameras to realise new AI capabilities.

He explained that the presence of cameras will allow the gadgets to scan the environment and provide the user with information based on the data received. Surely many will appreciate such a proposal, but we will have to wait for a long time.

In his new material in Bloomberg, Mark Gurman reported that Apple Watch and AirPods with cameras and integrated AI may not appear on sale until 2027.

The journalist knows that the American corporation is developing special chips specifically for these gadgets - "Nevis" for Apple Watch and "Glennie" for AirPods. In case the chips will be ready earlier, the company can accelerate the release of gadgets, but it is not yet known whether it will be possible to do this.

It is worth emphasising that the cameras in Apple Watch and AirPods will not be designed for photo and video recording, but are needed solely for AI work. Figuratively speaking, they will become its eyes to collect environmental data.
