At the same time with the publication of the release shooter DOOM: The Dark Ages, the embargo on reviews of the novelty from Id Software and Bethesda was lifted.

Critics and bloggers expressed their opinion about the game and it was quite expected.

Here's What We Know

Almost all reviewers were satisfied with DOOM: The Dark Ages, they unanimously consider it an excellent shooter and a worthy continuation of the whole franchise, as well as the last two parts.

The new part still features incredibly cool shootouts, beautifully designed locations, a huge variety of demons, brutal melee and ranged weapons, and a dynamic rock soundtrack. Reviewers note the excellent technical and visual execution and the most elaborate plot in the history of the series.

The main disadvantage of DOOM: The Dark Ages was considered by many experts to be the developers' desire to experiment. As many expected, the levels, in which the Executioner of Doom (Doom Slayer) uses a huge battle mech and a flying cyberdragon, turned out to be spectacular, but boring, predictable, drawn out and falling out of the concept of a shooter. Most critics believe that without these innovations the game would be better, but in this case, we should note, the authors would be accused of self-repetition and lack of creativity.

Also, not everyone appreciated the restrained dynamics of battles and the transfer of gameplay to a more horizontal plane.

As a result, DOOM: The Dark Ages received high marks:
