Poland receives second batch of US M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks

The second batch of American M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks, which are intended for the Polish Army, has arrived in Poland. This was reported by Polska Zbrojna.

Here's What We Know

19 tanks that make up the second batch are already in Poland. According to Deputy Minister of Defence Paweł Bejda, the vehicles will soon enter service with the Polish army. Before being put into service, the tanks will be sent to the Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne Military Plant in Poznan.

For more than a year now, the plant has been operating the Regional Abrams Tank Maintenance Competence Centre, where specialists will check key components for possible damage caused by adverse marine climatic conditions.

Poland has ordered a total of 250 M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks in 2022. According to the plan, the delivery should be completed in 2025 and 2026. The first batch of 28 units arrived in Poland by sea in January 2025.

Poland will spend $6 billion on the procurement, which includes the delivery of 250 AN/VLQ-12 CREW Duke IED countermeasures, 26 M88A2 HERCULES recovery vehicles, 17 M1110 bridge pavers, 276 M2 .50 calibre machine guns, 500 M240C 7.62 mm machine guns and 15 AGT1500 gas turbine engines.

After the inspection, the M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks will be deployed to the 18th Mechanised Division named after General Tadeusz Buk, in particular to the 1st Warsaw Armoured Brigade and the 19th Mechanised Brigade, which are part of the division.
