Google will pay an impressively sized fine to the state of Texas.

Here's What We Know

The Texas Attorney General's office has issued a press release stating that the largest IT giant has agreed to pay a $1.375bn fine to settle two lawsuits accusing the company of violating users' privacy rights.

Back in 2022, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton accused Google of surreptitiously collecting users' biometric data without their consent. Moreover, the company continued to track their location even after they disabled the feature.

The announced amount of the fine became the largest, to which Google agreed.

It is noteworthy that the representative of the corporation Jose Castaneda said that although Google agreed to pay the fine, the company does not admit guilt.
