According to sources, Apple's Meta Ray-Ban competitors may be introduced around 2027, along with new AirPods equipped with cameras and AI-based features.

Here's What We Know

Although specific details about the appearance of the devices have not yet been revealed, Apple has shared new developments in the field of artificial intelligence. In 2023, the Apple Machine Learning Research team introduced MLX, a proprietary open machine learning platform designed specifically for Apple Silicon. This platform allows efficient training and execution of models locally on Apple devices, providing convenience for developers working with traditional AI development tools.

Apple's latest achievement is FastVLM, an image processing model using a visual language. FastVLM, based on MLX, provides high speed image processing and significantly lower resource requirements compared to similar models.

Apple claims that this new approach achieves an optimal balance between speed, model size, and accuracy.

The FastVLM model has a special FastViTHD encoder designed to work efficiently with high-quality images and is 3.2 times faster and 3.6 times smaller than similar models. This is important for fast data processing without the need to access cloud servers. In particular, FastVLM can generate first results 85 times faster than other models, making it ideal for integration into future smartphones.

FastVLM is already available on GitHub, and technical details can be found on arXiv for those who want to learn more about Apple's latest AI developments.
