After a successful run in cinemas that brought in over $900 million, the Minecraft film is now officially available to rent or purchase for home viewing. Fans of the iconic game can now enjoy the adventures of Steve and his friends from the comfort of their sofa.

Here's What We Know

Minecraft was released in US cinemas on 4 April 2025 and quickly became one of the most popular films of the year. Although the film did not reach a billion, it was the second highest-grossing game adaptation of all time, behind only The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed $1.36 billion.

Since 13 May 2025, the film has been available in digital format on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, and others. The rental costs about $20, and the purchase costs $25.

This means that viewers can now throw popcorn at home instead of in the cinema, enjoying a fun story about the cubic world of Minecraft.

The film tells the story of four friends who find themselves in the magical cubic world of Minecraft, where they have to fight monsters and solve puzzles to get back home. The film stars Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers and others.

The physical release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD is scheduled for 24 June 2025.
