Ubisoft can celebrate: Assassin's Creed Shadows not only met expectations but also surpassed the key indicators of the previous hits in the series. The novelty has already brought the second largest revenue on the launch day among all games in the franchise.

Here's What We Know

In its latest financial report, Ubisoft emphasised that Assassin's Creed Shadows "clearly outperformed Assassin's Creed Odyssey" in two key metrics: revenue and number of players. On the first day after its release, the game broke the Odyssey launch record and even surpassed Valhalla on Steam, although the Viking title is still the all-time leader. Ubisoft called Valhalla's launch "a perfect storm that is unlikely to be repeated", but Shadows confidently took second place in the series' history in terms of launch sales.

In its first week, Assassin's Creed Shadows attracted more than 3 million players and became Ubisoft's biggest release on the PlayStation Digital Store in the company's history. In total, players have already spent more than 160 million hours in the game, which demonstrates the high level of engagement and interest in the new instalment of the series. By this indicator, Shadows has surpassed even Odyssey, which has long been considered the benchmark of modern Assassin's Creed.

Despite the overall decline in Ubisoft's revenues for the year, Assassin's Creed Shadows has become the company's main hope for financial recovery. Good sales and positive feedback from players confirm that the series remains one of the strongest brands in the publisher's portfolio.
