Insider: GTA IV won't get a full-fledged remaster - Rockstar will limit itself to a port for modern consoles

A few days ago, authoritative insider and dataminer Tez2 reported that Rockstar Games is still working on a re-release of Grand Theft Auto IV (and Max Payne 3) for modern platforms. At that time, this project was called a remaster, but Tez2 clarified the data and lowered the degree of expectation.

Here's What We Know

Tez2 clarified that most likely GTA 4 will not be re-released as a full-fledged remaster, but will only port the crime action game to current consoles, as it was in 2023 with Red Dead Redemption. The western was made available on PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch in resolutions up to 4K and at 60 FPS, and in this mode the game does look much better than in 2010, but the authors did not make any changes to gameplay mechanics and did not improve textures, lighting and graphics.

This is exactly what Grand Theft Auto IV will (most likely) get, but Tez2 can't give any additional details, as he doesn't have all the information himself. He doesn't even know which studio is porting the game, but he thinks that this way Rockstar wants to take advantage of the hype around GTA VI and make some money on the famous 2008 game.
