Xiaomi to release its own XRING 01 processor for smartphones
Xiaomi has officially announced the development of its own mobile chip called XRING 01, which will appear in future devices of the brand.
Here's What We Know
According to rumours, the company has been working on this processor for more than 10 years.
So far, there are few details about XRING 01. According to GizmoChina, the chip is manufactured using a 4nm process at TSMC fabs. The architecture provides for the placement of cores in a 1+3+4 configuration. In terms of performance, XRING 01 will be slightly inferior to Snapdragon 8 Elite and Dimensity 9400, which is similar to Google's approach with its own Tensor chips for Pixel smartphones.
Google has long since abandoned Qualcomm and MediaTek processors, creating its own chips to better optimise devices. Huawei also develops its own processors, albeit for different reasons, and Samsung has an Exynos line used in some Galaxy models.
Xiaomi XRING 01 is expected to debut in the Xiaomi 15s in the near future.
Recently, it became known that Xiaomi is working on a new smartphone that will be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. This processor has already been used in the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro model, but now the chipset will be included in the main line of Xiaomi smartphones.
The prototype smartphone that was tested was equipped with 16 GB of RAM, but there is a possibility that the basic version of the model will have a smaller amount of memory. The smartphone will also run on Android 15 with Xiaomi's proprietary HyperOS shell.
