Land Rover has updated the Discovery and introduced two special versions: Tempest and Gemini
Despite the advanced age of the current generation of Land Rover Discovery, the British brand is not in a hurry to remove the model from the assembly line. On the contrary - the SUV received another update and two new special versions: Tempest and Gemini.
Here's What We Know
The top of the model range is now Discovery Tempest, which is distinguished by a matte protective coating of the body and contrasting accents of Petra Copper Gloss colour, including the roof and decorative elements. The 22-inch wheels are painted in the same colour. The interior is dominated by black leather, aluminium inserts and exclusive symbols. The name Tempest refers to the internal project of development of the second generation Discovery - this was the name of one of the stages in the process of creation.
The second novelty is the Gemini version, and this is also a reference to the past: this was the code name of the 2.5 Tdi diesel engine in the first Discovery of 1989. The modern interpretation will be available in six colours, including a unique shade of Sedona Red. All versions get a black contrasting roof, 21-inch silver wheels and branded emblems. The interior is family-friendly, with a fridge between the front seats, rear gadget holders and three-zone climate control.
The entire Discovery range is now powered by a single engine - a mild hybrid based on a 3.0-litre diesel with a six-cylinder inline six, designated as the D350. It develops 345bhp and 700Nm of torque. Apart from the special series, the updates also affect the standard S, Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE and Metropolitan Edition trims, which have had equipment added.
The base Land Rover Discovery starts at £64,810 in the UK. The Gemini version is priced at £72,505 and the flagship Tempest is priced at £83,720 excluding optional extras.
Those wishing to extend the car's capabilities are offered new accessory packages. For example, Beach Days includes rubber mats, sun blinds, a roof rack and a folding organiser. The Road Trip package includes seatback organisers and a luggage box, while Snow Days allows you to carry skis.
