Fortnite players who were looking forward to the return of their favourite game to iOS are once again disappointed. After several days of waiting, it has been officially announced that Epic Games' efforts to bring Fortnite back to iOS have failed: Apple has blocked the game from appearing in both the US App Store and the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union.

Here's What We Know

On 1 May, optimism was sparked by the statement of Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, who promised: "Fortnite will return to the US iOS App Store next week." We were expecting a quick re-release of Fortnite Mobile, but it never happened. A long review process by Apple was supposed to decide the fate of the mobile version of the game, and now we know the final answer.

On 16 May, the official Fortnite Twitter account finally clarified the situation regarding the ongoing battle between Fortnite and the Apple Store.

"Apple has blocked our Fortnite submission, so we can't release the game on the US App Store or the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union. Now, unfortunately, Fortnite on iOS is not available worldwide until Apple unlocks it," the statement reads.4

So, for now, iPhone and iPad owners can only wait for further developments in this protracted confrontation.
