Spanish company Grupo Oesia and developer Destinus have entered into a partnership to create the Ruta long-range missile and signed an agreement during the FEINDEF 2025 defence exhibition with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Defence.

Here's What We Know

The partnership will involve the joint development, production and commercialisation of Ruta missiles. At FEINDEF, the companies presented the missile's technical characteristics, including the turbojet engine, avionics and modular design of removable elements.

The missile is equipped with an optical guidance system at the final stage, autonomous flight and swarm coordination functions.

The guidance, navigation and control system was developed by the Spanish company UAV Navigation, part of Grupo Oesia. Ruta has a cruising speed of Mach 0.8 and a range of up to 500 km. Take-off is performed using an accelerator, and landing is possible using parachutes.

Destinus was founded by Russian-born physicist Mikhail Kokorich, who has publicly condemned Russian aggression, and is headquartered in Paris with production facilities in Europe. Last year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had tested a Ruta missile.

It should be noted that in June 2024, it was already demonstrated at the Ukrainian stand at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris with the insignia of the Air Force.
