With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, many of the games available on previous consoles will receive enhanced editions.

Most of them will be sold separately or as a paid upgrade, but as it turns out, you won't have to pay for some of them.

Here's What We Know

Nintendo has published on its website a list of games that will receive free improvements for Switch 2. So, on 5 June - the console's launch day - gamers will be able to upgrade 12 games:

  • Arms
  • Big Brain Academy
  • Captain Toad
  • Clubhouse Games
  • Game Builder Garage
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
  • Pokémon Scarlet
  • Pokémon Violet
  • Super Mario 3D World
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
  • Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

Some of these will be graphical improvements, a number of titles will get HDR and GameShare support, and Game Builder Garage will utilise the Joy-Con 2 controller's new mouse mode feature.
