Millions of gamers around the world are eagerly awaiting every new detail about Grand Theft Auto 6, but the CEO of Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, recently stunned the world with a confession: he hasn't played the ambitious project because... he's just not a gamer. However, this does not prevent him from running a corporation that makes great games

Here's What We Know

In an interview with CNBC, when asked directly if he had played GTA 6, Zelnick answered without hesitation: "I'm not a gamer, not really - I don't play video games, I'm not a major consumer."

He later explained that he does share his opinion with developers working under Take-Two's wing "quite openly", but believes that being a consumer would not benefit the company.

"My role is to attract, retain, and motivate the best talent in the industry and then get out of their way," he explained, which sounds much better than having an executive who knows nothing about games impose his gameplay decisions on developers. I think it's probably a mistake to be the main consumer in the entertainment business as a CEO. I wasn't the main consumer in the film business, the TV business, or the music business, although I could certainly read a script and I love music... but that's not my role."

Earlier in the same conversation, Zelnick made a bold statement about the future: "Rockstar Games is trying to create the best thing the world has ever seen in entertainment." So the Take-Two CEO believes in his team and their vision.
