Huawei has unveiled a luxury laptop with a foldable Tandem OLED display and the latest HarmonyOS 5 features

As previously announced, Huawei held a big presentation of devices on HarmonyOS, which now functions on PCs as well.

The undoubted star of the event was the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design laptop.

Here's What We Know

In the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design, Huawei engineers embodied the concept that Apple is reportedly working on. Before us is a touch device with a foldable display, the bottom part of which can be used as a touch keyboard or, if necessary, both halves form a single display.

In the unfolded state Tandem OLED-display has a diagonal of 18″ with a resolution of 3.3K and an aspect ratio of 4:3, and in folded form the ratio becomes 3:2.

The manufacturer has used a carbon fibre substrate to enhance impact resistance. The MateBook Fold Ultimate Design got the largest hinge in the industry as well.

  • display: Tandem OLED, up to 1600 nits, 13″ and 2472×1648 (folded); 18″ inches and 3296×2472 (unfolded);
  • 32GB of RAM, 2TB or 1TB SSD storage;
  • 74.69Wh nominal capacity battery;
  • Kirin X90 processor;
  • supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2;
  • two USB-C 3.2 ports;
  • the laptop is 7.3mm thick and weighs 1.16kg.

The device utilises the latest HarmonyOS 5 features and is fully integrated into the Huawei ecosystem.

The exterior of the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design case is made of silicone that mimics faux leather. It comes with a physical keyboard.

The laptop is available for pre-order in three colours at a price of $3330 (converted from yuan).
So far, the novelty is available only in China and there is no announcement about the possibility of its release on the global market.
