On the eve of the release of the long-awaited Borderlands 4, fans of the famous series have united to express their indignation at the new terms of service from Take-Two Interactive. The situation has escalated so much that Borderlands games are currently experiencing a real "revenge bombing" on Steam.

Here's What We Know

The conflict boils down to the recently updated Take-Two user agreement, which is published on the holding company's website. As one player noted in a recent discussion on Reddit: "People are bombarding the entire Borderlands series with negative reviews because of the changes to the EULA, which can apparently access the root level of your PC under the guise of anti-virus software."

The player continues, explaining that fans are outraged at the prospect of Take-Two collecting "personal information such as accounts, passwords, phone numbers, etc. One only needs to look at the pages of the three main Borderlands games on Steam to see that players are indeed unhappy with the new terms of service. In the Recent Reviews section for the first game, which now has a Mixed rating, users openly share their concerns about the user agreement.

"I'm not comfortable with the terms of service," writes one fan. Another simply calls the game "spyware" after the integration of Take-Two's new terms. The Borderlands 2 page also has "Mixed" reviews, with players highlighting their concerns about the deal and fears that it will affect their online privacy: "It collects usernames and passwords, IP addresses, and browser history data."

Now it's interesting to see how Take-Two reacts to this.
