Amazon has officially started delivering Apple products - including iPhones, AirPods, and AirTags - using drones. The service is available for residents of College Station (Texas) and West Valley in the Phoenix area (Arizona).

Here's What We Know

If you live in one of these areas and urgently need a new gadget, you can get delivery in less than an hour.

Delivery is carried out via Prime Air, a service that Amazon has been developing for over a decade. As of today, customers can choose from more than 60,000 products for delivery by drone, as long as they do not weigh more than 2.2 kg.

In addition to Apple products, drones also deliver Samsung Galaxy devices and Ring branded doorbells. The algorithm is simple: when placing an order, you need to select drone delivery, specify the landing zone - for example, a yard or entrance - and wait for the arrival.

The MK30 drone descends to a height of about 4 metres and makes sure that there are no people, cars or animals in the area before unloading the package.

Although the Prime Air service is currently available in only a few cities, the delivery of Apple equipment by drone is an important step in the cooperation between the two companies. Although the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) rules are not quite ready for such technologies, it could change the way we deliver, especially when new gadgets are released.

As a reminder, Amazon is launching Alexa+ for early access programme members. Alexa+ is a smarter, more conversational version of the Alexa voice assistant capable of performing more complex tasks.
