According to Motor1, Dacia is preparing a big update to the popular Duster crossover at the turn of 2025 and 2026. It will bring the model a more powerful hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive, realised through the addition of an electric motor on the rear axle.

Here's What We Know

The current Dacia Duster has a 140bhp hybrid system based on a 1.6-litre engine. But in the near future, insider reports suggest the model will get a 1.8 Hybrid system from the larger Dacia Bigster. Power output will reach 155bhp.

It is also expected that the Duster will soon get an EDC dual-clutch 'robot' for markets outside Europe.

An additional major new feature will be the introduction of adaptive cruise control with Stop Go. In combination with the lane keeping assistant, this system will allow the Duster to partially take control of itself - that is, we are talking about the introduction of elements of semi-autonomous driving.

Finally, the crossover will offer a version with electrified all-wheel drive, when the wheels of the rear axle rotates the electric motor. Now all-wheel drive Duster is available only with a petrol engine TCe 130 (mild hybrid), and all-wheel drive is implemented in the classic way with a driveshaft.

Prices for the current Duster in Germany start at €18,990 for the 100 hp ECO-G version with petrol and LPG. The 140bhp hybrid costs from €25,890 and the Bigster with a 155bhp hybrid from €28,590. So the Duster with the new 1.8 Hybrid will logically fall in between.
