The head of Borderlands 4 said that "fans will find a way to do it" if the game is priced at $80, which caused a flurry of criticism
Nintendo's controversial decision to raise the price of Mario Kart World to $80 has caused a real stir among gamers, especially after Microsoft did not hesitate to make a similar move. And although Sony has not yet announced any price increases for its upcoming exclusives such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei, fans are already pre-ordering expensive digital Deluxe editions. Perhaps it's only a matter of time before Sony joins the $80 club. And one of the directors of Borderlands 4 commented on the price increase in a very strange way.
Here's What We Know
One of the fans addressed Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford directly on Twitter with a request not to put a $80 price tag on the game.
Pitchford's response caused a storm of indignation: "Not my decision," he said, before adding the controversial line, "If you're a true fan, you'll find a way to do it.
Pitchford continued by telling the story of how he bought the SEGA Genesis game Starflight by selling ice cream on Pismo Beach. His comments sounded inappropriate, to say the least.
Naturally, Pitchford's words were met with a flurry of criticism from most players, and his personal Twitter feed was filled with angry responses from fans.
Now it becomes very interesting how much they will really ask for the basic edition of Borderlands 4, because the improvements will obviously reach $100. The game will be released on 12 September on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5.
