After a five-year absence following a high-profile legal battle, Fortnite has made a triumphant return to the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad users in the US. Developer Epic Games shared this long-awaited news and celebrated with a post on Twitter, letting fans know that they can once again immerse themselves in the mega-popular battle royale.

Here's What We Know

At the time of writing, some Apple users in the US may have trouble finding Fortnite directly through the App Store, but Epic says this will change "soon". In the meantime, you can follow the direct link to find the updated game page. For those in Europe, Fortnite is also now available for download via the Epic Games Store and AltStore.

The return of Fortnite to iOS devices such as iPhone and iPad brings an end to the drama that has surrounded Epic and Apple. It all started in August 2020, when Google and Apple announced the removal of Fortnite from their digital stores after Epic launched an update that lowered the price of V-Bucks and added a direct payment system. At the time, Fortnite explained that its decision was a direct result of what it called "sky-high" store fees set by Apple and Google.

The situation changed in April 2025, when Epic CEO Tim Sweeney announced that Fortnite would return to the iOS App Store in early May following a ruling by the US District Federal Court in California. An obstacle related to a subsequent lockdown by Apple delayed the return, but now, five years later, Fortnite is finally back on iOS devices.

Those who download Fortnite on an Apple phone or tablet will now have the option of purchasing V-Bucks through the Epic Games Store or through in-game purchases. For example, those who choose a set of 2,800 V-Bucks for $23 will be able to choose to send the money directly to Epic, receiving $4.60 (or 20%) back that can be used towards other company offers. This is a significant benefit as it allows players to get more for their money and supports the developer directly, bypassing platform commissions.
