Renowned analyst: new OpenAI gadget will resemble iPod Shuffle
OpenAI, together with former Apple designer Jony Ive , is working on a new artificial intelligence device that can be worn around the neck.
Here's What We Know
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared details about the upcoming product.
According to him, this gadget will be slightly larger than the recently discontinued AI Pin from Humane, but will look compact and stylish, like the legendary iPod Shuffle - a small music player without a screen.
The device will not have a display but will be able to connect to smartphones and computers, as well as have microphones for voice control and cameras that will analyse the surrounding space.
The peculiarity is that this device can be worn around the neck like a chain, unlike AI Pin, which was attached to clothes. Mass production is expected to start in 2027, but the design and characteristics may still change.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has already tested the device and considers it "the coolest technology the world has ever seen". Time will tell whether this gadget will be able to repeat the success of the iPod or become just an interesting experiment.
It is worth noting that OpenAI has officially announced the acquisition of io, a startup founded by Jony Ive, the legendary iPhone designer. The deal is valued at $6.5 billion and is the largest in the company's history. As part of the deal, io's team of about 55 specialists, including former Apple employees, will join OpenAI to develop new hardware devices with integrated artificial intelligence.
