After months of rumours and speculation, A24, a company known for its bold film projects, has officially confirmed that a film based on the cult game Elden Ring is in development. And that's not all: according to reports, the project will be headed by none other than Alex Garland, director of such films as Ex Machina, Annihilation, and Civil War, who will write the script and take the director's chair.

Here's What We Know

Several publications have suggested the existence of this film in recent months, but according to Deadline, it has been officially confirmed. In addition to Garland, several big names have already been involved in the project. The most notable is George R.R. Martin, who is known to have collaborated with FromSoftware to help write the backstory of the Elden Ring game.

This news comes shortly after the release of Garland's latest film, Warfare, which was also produced in partnership with A24 and has now grossed over $32 million since its release last month.

It's hard to imagine how Souls-like could be adapted into a film, but maybe the team will find an interesting idea.
