Rumour: 2K preparing an announcement in the BioShock universe, where the city of Rapture from the first two games will be in the spotlight again
After more than a decade of silence around the BioShock franchise, which made fans desperate for more, new rumours have emerged. It is reported that 2K is preparing a grand announcement that should take place by the "end of the summer". And the most interesting thing is that it will be dedicated to Rapture, the iconic underwater city built by Andrew Ryan that became the hallmark of the first game in 2007.
Here's What We Know
Although MP1ST's report made it clear that no specific details about the announcement could be found, there is a strong suggestion that it could be a remake or remaster of the original BioShock. This would be a real gift for fans who dream of experiencing the atmosphere of the majestic but decaying underwater city again.
It is claimed that 2K is preparing to reveal something related to BioShock by the end of the summer. The report said that there is a possibility that it could be a remake or remaster of the first game, as the announcement is supposed to be about the city of Rapture.
For those who don't know, Rapture is the name of the sprawling underwater city that serves as the setting for the first and second BioShock games, released in 2007 and 2010 respectively. This utopia-turned-dystopia city has become a place of complex plotting, philosophical questions and unique art design.
The report contained a lot of assumptions. MP1ST insider Kurakasis, known for obtaining information from domain registries and trademark applications, suggested:
"We don't know what the announcement will be about. It could be the disclosure of initial details about one of the projects announced a few years ago, such as BioShock 4 or an upcoming Netflix film."
In May 2023, it became known that the development of BioShock 4 had entered production hell, but this news was supplemented a few months later by information that the studio that is assembling the game was hiring 30 new employees. This gives us hope that, despite the previous difficulties, work on the new part is still going on.
