Yesterday, we reported on Donald Trump openly threatening Apple CEO Tim Cook with a 25% duty on every Phone manufactured outside of America and imported into the US.

Later, the US President remembered the fairness and extended his threats to other smartphone companies.

Here's What We Know

As reported by Bloomberg, Trump has now threatened Samsung, Google and other smartphone manufacturers with 25 per cent tariffs.

He demands that the companies, and, judging by the threats to Samsung, not only American, either localise production in the US or pay increased duties. The decision could come into effect as early as the end of June.

Trump said that "it would be unfair" to require similar steps only from Apple, so all manufacturers will be on an equal footing.

Samsung and Google have not yet commented on Trump's statement, but leading economists and experts have repeatedly reported that full localisation of production in the US is not only not profitable, but practically impossible, and in any case will take a huge amount of time and money.
