Mazda EZ-60: electric crossover to debut in August, specs revealed
The open database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry (MMIT) has revealed details about Mazda's electric crossover on the Changan EPA platform.
Here's What We Know
The all-electric version of the Mazda EZ-60 will be rear-wheel drive, with a single 258bhp engine and a lithium-iron-phosphate battery produced by CALB. Alternatively, a rear-wheel-drive hybrid will be offered with a 1.5 (98 hp) petrol engine in the generator role, a 190 hp electric motor and a 31.7 kWh battery.
Externally, the production EZ-60 retains the design features of the Arata concept. The front end is designed in a futuristic style: a hidden grille, divided LED headlights and a spectacular LED strip across the width, framing the contours of the grille. At the rear, there is a narrow LED headlamp line and large "MAZDA" lettering. The EV version additionally received a corresponding nameplate.
The 4.8-metre crossover is designed for five people. The wheels with a diameter of 19 or 21 inches are provided.
The interior is designed in a minimalist style with an emphasis on digitalisation: the central place is occupied by a 26.45-inch "floating" screen with a resolution of 5K, combining multimedia and control functions of the car. A two-spoke steering wheel with a truncated rim, steering column selector and push-button door handles are fitted.
Sales of the Mazda EZ-60 are due to start in August. The cost of the car is not yet known.
