Dragon Age actress on the "failure" of Veilguard: "People wanted BioWare to fail"
Alix Wilton Regan, the actress who voices the Female Inquisitor in Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Inquisition, is ready to defend BioWare against unfair criticism. In a new interview, she admitted that she was "shocked" by the mixed reaction to the game and accused internet trolls of deliberately lowering the ratings.
Here's What We Know
Popular actress Alix Wilton Regan, known for her roles in Dragon Age: Inquisition and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, spoke to IGN about her emotions regarding the mixed reaction to BioWare's latest project. She noted that she was "absolutely disappointed" that The Veilguard did not find a wide audience despite the positive reviews from critics.
Wilton Regan, who also voices characters in other games, including Microsoft's upcoming Perfect Dark remake, stressed that she had a lot of fun working with BioWare. However, she does not believe that her character will return in the next instalments of the series.
"I feel very sorry for BioWare as a studio that they received such a mixed reaction to the game. I personally think it was a very strong game. BioWare were themselves - it was the real Dragon Age," said Wilton Regan.
The actress also expressed the opinion that a significant part of the negative feedback was generated by people who "wanted the game to fail or BioWare to fail". She noted that there are many toxic users on the Internet who deliberately lowered the game's ratings before its release.
The Veilguard was subjected to a massive wave of negative feedback after its launch. The criticism centred around the inclusion of a non-binary companion character and the possibility for the player to choose a transgender hero.
Wilton Regan added: "People were attacking the game before it was even released. It's absurd. How can you judge a game, a book, a film or a TV series if you haven't seen it yet? It's just stupid."
As a reminder, the Dragon Age veteran revealed EA's attitude towards RPG fans. The company calls these players "living in a cave".
