Hyundai Motor Group and Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) have entered into a strategic agreement to deploy artificial intelligence (AI)-based Automatic Charging Robots (ACR) for electric vehicles at the airport as part of a demonstration project.

Here's What We Know

Hyundai has shown the first prototypes of charging robots for electric vehicles in 2023. The company claims that the ACR can work in any environment, regardless of the charger's location, weather and possible obstacles. It is even IP65 protected against moisture and dust, and uses a 3D camera and an algorithm with self-learning elements to connect the charger correctly.

In the new joint project, Hyundai will provide the robots themselves, keep them up and running and improve their performance based on information gathered during actual operation. IIAC will provide the airport grounds as a demonstration environment for the development of AI-powered electric vehicle charging services. They will also collect information from users on the usability of charging robots.
