Skoda Auto has revealed a modern interpretation of the Skoda Favorit hatchback. If released now, it would be made into an all-electric crossover with batteries under the floor.

Here's What We Know

The Skoda Favorit hatchback was introduced in 1987. Despite being designed within the constraints of the Eastern Bloc, it managed to compete with Western cars in terms of utility and driving performance. It was powered by a 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine with outputs ranging from 40 to 50 kW (54 to 68 hp) in different versions. And the design was developed by the legendary Bertone studio. In addition to the hatchback, Skoda also produced a station wagon Forman. The model went through several updates and in 1994 ceased to exist, giving way to Felicia.

The modern version of Skoda Favorit was created by designer Ljudmil Slavov. David Stingl was responsible for the final visualisation of the project. Slavov reimagined the model in line with Skoda's signature Modern Solid style, spending around 120 hours of his own time. However, he deliberately abandoned some of the characteristic elements of modern Skoda, including the Tech-Deck Face front end. The designer explained this decision by the fact that the original Favorit was already very minimalistic and additional changes would have harmed the integrity of the composition.

In addition to the 'civilian' version, Ljudmil Slavov has also created a racing concept inspired by the Favorit's rallying heritage. It features protruding bumpers made of soft-touch material, which he introduced at some stage of development to reference the plastic bumpers of the original Favorit.
