Instagram started draining battery much faster on Android - Google confirms the problem
Android users noticed that the Instagram app was draining the battery on their smartphones much faster. The problem was actively discussed on Reddit and other platforms, comparing the energy consumption of different apps with similar screen usage time.
Here's What We Know
For example, one user with a Samsung Galaxy A53 smartphone reported that Instagram used 12.4% of the battery in 54 minutes of use, while WhatsApp used only 2.4% in almost the same time (49 minutes).
Some users, trying to avoid this problem, installed older versions of Instagram, but this led to overheating of the device. Others switched to Instagram Lite, where they noticed a significant improvement in battery life, indicating that the problem was in the main app.

After installing the update, users report that the battery life has returned to normal. Instagram remains one of the most popular photo and video sharing apps, so it's important that this issue is addressed quickly.
