Casio introduces women's G-LIDE GLXS5610 in the US in the colours of the Lilo and Stitch cartoon
Casio America has unexpectedly released the new G-Shock G-LIDE GLXS5610-2 and GLXS5610-4 women's watches earlier than in Japan and other countries.
Here's What We Know
These models from the S series have a compact design that is suitable for women and are equipped with a tide chart and moon phases - an important feature for surfers.
The new line was created in collaboration with professional surfer from Hawaii and G-Shock ambassador Bettylou Sakura Johnson. The blue version resembles a jade vine flower, and the pink version resembles a sakura, which echoes her middle name. Both colours reflect the vibrant atmosphere of Hawaii and its surf culture. The GLXS5610-2 comes in bright blue and the GLXS5610-4 in deep pink.
Other instruments include a 1/100th of a second stopwatch, three alarms, hourly time signals and a countdown timer with a 24-hour range.
In addition, the blue and pink colours unexpectedly coincide with the main shades of the characters in the Disney animated film Lilo and Stitch, which was released this month.
Both support a stylish metal bezel around the display, giving them a more distinctive look. In terms of functionality, the watches are identical to the GLX-S5600 model.
For ease of use in the dark, there is a white LED backlight with an adjustable duration. The watch is powered by a replaceable CR1616 battery, which provides up to three years of battery life.
The new products are already available on Casio's official website in the US for $99 each.
