Faraday Future has published the first image of the new FX 4 electric car, which could be a competitor to the Tesla Model Y for the price of the Toyota RAV4.

Here's What We Know

The teaser was shown at the company's Annual Stockholders' Day. Details are promised to be revealed in the third quarter of the year. Faraday is positioning the model as a "disruptor of the [Toyota] RAV4" in the age of artificial intelligence and electric cars.

This was the first official mention of the FX 4. Previously, Faraday Future representatives have only talked about the upcoming FX 5, FX 6 and the FX Super One van:

  • FX 5 - a big, roomy, and slightly sporty EV for $20,000 to $30,000
  • The FX 6 is a large family car for $30,000-50,000

In the teaser image, you can spot the FX 4 full-width light bar, scalloped bonnet and thin front body pillars. The company plans to open pre-orders before the end of the year, calling the model a potential "blockbuster" for the mass segment.

Faraday also showed prototypes of the FX 4, FX 6 and FX Super One, though they look rather generic.

The Super One van is due to undergo an "exclusive offline presentation" on 29 June and a public debut on 17 July. The company claims it will "disrupt the market dominance of the Cadillac Escalade" and has already collected over 2,500 pre-orders.

Assembly of the Super One should begin later this year, but given Faraday Future's reputation, it's worth waiting for real-world results.
