The film based on the game Split Fiction is actively moving forward, as, according to Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios is close to signing a deal to acquire the rights to the film for $2 million, which may star Sidney Sweeney.

Director John M. Chu, known for his work on Wicked, is rumoured to be directing, with Sydney Sweeney set to star. The script is being written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the Deadpool writers, which hints at witty dialogue and unpredictable plot twists.

Deadline reports that a real bidding war for the rights to Split Fiction film has unfolded, with Amazon MGM Studios eventually winning. Sony Pictures was also among the top contenders.

The plot of Split Fiction focuses on two writers - Mio and Zoe - who get caught in a simulation based on a tech company that uses AI to realise their ideas. The game takes place in a variety of fantasy settings and scenarios.

Split Fiction was developed by Hazelight Studio under the leadership of Josef Fares. The game has sold almost 4 million copies, according to publisher Electronic Arts, which proves its popularity and potential for a successful film adaptation.
