Swiss company H. Moser Cie, in collaboration with Sequent, has unveiled the Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition, the first premium smart watch designed specifically for Formula 1 mechanics. The watch made its debut during the Barcelona race, where members of the Alpine technical team used it in real pit lane conditions at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya circuit.

Here's What We Know

Alpine mechanics wore the watch during practice sessions, qualifying and the race itself. The watch provided real-time access to session schedules, countdown timers and notifications of critical pit lane operations.

A special mode turns the watch into a comprehensive tool for Formula One operations. The system provides race schedules with automatic updates for weather delays, session timers and team notifications for Alpine. When pit lane noise levels are high, the watch activates an enhanced notification vibration.

The watch integrates with Alpine's team communications systems and car telemetry, receiving data on performance, tyre wear and fuel consumption to optimise pit stop strategy.

Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3 connectivity enables pairing with Alpine's team communication systems and individual iOS/Android devices. The system prioritises the transmission of important data, minimising standby power consumption.

Design

The case measures 42.6 mm × 14.4 mm and is made of stainless steel. On the outside, it is treated with a composite compound in the signature Funky Blue colour, in unison with the Alpine racing livery. The watch withstands immersion in water to a depth of 120 metres and is not afraid of hydraulic fluids, fuel vapours, solvents, vibrations from pneumatic tools and temperature differences between the garage and the track.

The digital display is covered by sapphire crystal. The interface includes a chronograph with 1/100th of a second accuracy, calendar, GMT and a special F1 mode. The blue rubber strap with quick-release system is also resistant to automotive fluids and other chemicals.

Production

Production is limited to 500 pieces due to the difficulty of integrating Swiss mechanical tradition with digital components. Each watch undergoes double quality control for mechanical and electronic elements. In addition to the model for mechanics, H. Moser Cie has produced a chronograph in the size of 32.5 mm × 33.9 mm × 6.9 mm. This model is called the Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition.
