Samsung has begun early development of Galaxy Ring 2, the successor to its first smart ring, which was introduced in mid-2024. According to GalaxyClub, the device is only at the initial stage of development, so its release is likely to take place no earlier than 2026, possibly together with the Galaxy S26 series.

Here's What We Know

Samsung is not planning a radical redesign. Instead, the company focused on gradual improvements: reducing the body thickness, improving sensor accuracy, and increasing battery life.

Potential innovations include a flexible ring design that better adapts to the shape of the finger, which should improve tracking accuracy. Samsung's new patent also reveals the development of gesture control functions, which will allow users to interact with laptops or tablets using hand gestures.

A new power source may play a key role in Galaxy Ring 2. According to Money Today, Samsung is working on a solid-state battery with an energy density of 360Wh, which will provide longer battery life without increasing the size of the device.

The company has not yet confirmed any specifications or design of the second generation. The only novelty is the limited edition Galaxy Ring in titanium black, which was introduced in South Korea as part of the Galaxy S25 Edge advertising campaign.

Galaxy Ring is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 18 to 23.5 mAh and a charging case with a 361 mAh battery. It supports Bluetooth 5.4 and is protected to 10ATM and IP68 standards. The gadget can measure heart rate, blood oxygen levels, stress, sleep quality, and track menstrual cycle and fitness activities.
