Nvidia has surpassed Microsoft to become the world's most valuable public company (again)
On 3 June 2025, Nvidia once again became the market capitalisation leader, overtaking Microsoft. The company's stock rose 2.9% to $141.40 per share. This brought its market value to $3.45 trillion. By comparison, Microsoft has $3.44 trillion.
Here's What We Know
This isn't the first time Nvidia has taken the lead. In January 2025, the company was already climbing to the top, but then not for long. This time, the rise is backed by financial results: for the first quarter of 2025, Nvidia reported revenue of $44.06 billion - up 69% from the same period last year.
Even despite an $8bn loss due to restrictions on chip exports to China, investors remain confident in the company's prospects. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has expressed concern that such restrictions could lead to talent leakage to rival countries, but that hasn't stopped quotes from rising.
Analysts are optimistic about the company's future. For example, Jefferies named Nvidia as its key bet, expecting the release of new Blackwell AI chips to boost gross margins to 70-80 per cent.
On the back of Nvidia's success, other representatives of the semiconductor industry - in particular, AMD and Broadcom - are also growing, indicating broad positive dynamics in the segment.
