Honda has released the final version of the legendary Civic Type R for Europe

Honda has released 40 examples of the Civic Type R Ultimate Edition for sale across Europe. Each car is painted in Championship White with red stickers, carbon fibre parts, additional lighting and a gift set. The special edition was unveiled ahead of the end of European sales of the Type R model.

Here's What We Know

The special model is dedicated to the 28-year history of the hot hatchback. Red stickers on the bonnet and on the sides of the car are combined with the iconic model badge. There is also a black roof and carbon fibre detailing throughout the bodywork, including the spoiler and sill plates.

Inside, the carbon theme continues with the centre console panel. Additional lighting highlights individual interior elements: door trim, cupholders, centre console, footwells and the space under the seats. When the front doors are opened, projectors with the Type R logo are switched on.

Buyers of these 40 cars will receive a unique gift box. It contains a numbered emblem (1 to 40) and a carbon fibre key fob. Also included are customised mats and a car cover.

The Civic Type R's star of popularity rose in Japan with the sixth-generation "civic" Civic hatchback in 1997. Since then, it has gone through five generations and many special versions. The model has gained a devoted fan base around the world.

Over nearly three decades, the Civic Type R has set records for front-wheel drive production cars on several world circuits. It is best known for its achievements at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany. Similar successes have been achieved at other circuits such as Magny Cours in France, Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, Hungaroring in Hungary, Estoril in Portugal, Suzuka in Japan, Silverstone in the UK and Mount Panorama Bathurst in Australia.

Sales of the Honda Civic Type-R in Europe will be "permanently discontinued" in 2026. This seems to mean that Honda has no intention of ever shipping the Civic Type-R to Europe. The Ultimate Edition's price is not yet known. "Regular" Civic Type-R with a four-cylinder engine with 329 hp costs from 91,680 euros.
