Vivo is actively preparing for the launch of its new foldable smartphone Vivo X Fold 5, which promises significantly improved reliability and protection against extreme conditions.

Here's What We Know

According to Vivo's product manager, the new product has an increased level of protection: IPX9 for water, IP5X for dust, and unique resistance to very low temperatures.

The smartphone was tested at -20°C, and all functions worked smoothly even after prolonged exposure to the cold. The battery with the second generation of semi-solid-state technology can operate at temperatures as low as -30°C, which is a significant improvement over the battery in the previous X Fold 3 model.

The smartphone also complies with the IPX8 standard, which allows it to be immersed in water to a depth of 3 metres, which is more than the Galaxy Fold 6 (1.5 metres).

Vivo X Fold 5 has a large 6.53-inch external display with LTPO matrix and a main internal 8.03-inch AMOLED screen, both with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Power comes from a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The 6000 mAh battery supports 90W fast charging and 30W wireless charging. For photography, there are two 32-megapixel front-facing modules for each screen and a triple primary camera developed in conjunction with Zeiss, with a 50MP main sensor, ultra-wide-angle and periscope sensors with 3x zoom.

The Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to hit the Chinese market in July and then become available globally.
