Apple has announced the integration of ChatGPT into its Image Playground service. Users can now generate images directly in Image Playground using ChatGPT supported styles, including Oil Painting, Vector, Anime, Print, and Watercolour.

Here's What We Know

In addition, Apple introduced a new API for Image Playground, which will allow developers to integrate image generation functions into their applications, opening up additional opportunities for creative projects and automation.

The updates also affected Genmoji, digital emojis that can be created based on text descriptions. Users can combine two emojis into one, as well as more options for customising people's Genmoji: different hairstyles, facial expressions, and other details.

In Messages, you can now use Image Playground to generate colourful background images in group chats. It is important to note that user information is sent to OpenAI only with their permission.

Apple has added live translation to Messages, FaceTime, and phone calls. Messages will be automatically translated into the recipient's language as you type, while subtitles will appear during FaceTime conversations and spoken translation during calls.

Another innovation is an update to Visual Intelligence. This tool can now scan the contents of the iPhone screen and answer questions through integration with ChatGPT, as well as search for images or products on Google, Etsy, and other apps. If the system notices an event on the screen, iOS 26 will offer to add a reminder to your calendar.

For developers, Apple has opened the Foundation Models framework, a tool for creating AI functions that work offline, protect privacy, and are free of charge. It will allow developers to create smart applications, such as personalised tests for students.

The Shortcuts app will also be updated to support actions based on Apple Intelligence on both iOS and macOS. This will allow you to create automations that use artificial intelligence answers, for example, to compare audio recordings of lectures and your own notes.

In addition, Apple Wallet will now automatically summarise parcel tracking data collected from sellers and couriers so that users can quickly find all the information in one place.
