An extra month for perfection: The Legend of Zelda movie is delayed until May 2027
Earlier this year, Nintendo and Sony Pictures announced that their film based on the cult game would be released in March 2027. However, now a new release date has been announced, and it seems that we will have to wait about another month and a half longer than expected.
Here's What We Know
In a post on Twitter, Nintendo shared a message from Shigeru Miyamoto, who is also a producer of the Zelda film. He announced that due to "production reasons", the film's release date has been postponed from 26 March 2027 to 7 May 2027.
"This will be a few weeks later than we originally announced, and we will use this extra time to make the film as good as possible," Miyamoto wrote.
The Legend of Zelda film is to be directed by Wes Ball, known for the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and The Maze Runner trilogy. Nintendo and Sony Pictures are reportedly planning a trilogy of films, which are rumoured to be filmed together in New Zealand.
