IO Interactive is not going to bury Hitman, even though it is currently developing other projects, including 007: First Light

The legendary Hitman franchise is not dead. Although IO Interactive is currently working on a number of projects, including the development of 007: First Light and the publishing of the upcoming MindsEye, CEO Hakan Abrak insists that the studio is "definitely not done" with the Agent 47 series. In an interview with IGN, Abrak said that although the studio's resources and time have been taken up with other projects, we will definitely see more Hitman in the future.

Here's What We Know

"The Hitman series is definitely not over," Abraham said. "We're not done with Hitman. IO has been synonymous with Hitman, despite the other IPs we've done. We are absolutely proud, grateful and happy with Hitman. But obviously, creating a new IP, Project Fantasy, and creating Bond, takes a lot of our resources and time. But as you saw, we announced Hitman co-op, which is a big dream of mine. And they can come in different forms, but there will definitely be more Hitman in the future."

However, for now, the studio's priority is the development of 007: First Light. When asked about the differences between the upcoming James Bond game and Hitman, Abraham noted that the upcoming title will still retain some of the comedy that can be found in the adventures of Agent 47. However, he mentioned that Bond's sense of humour will be more British compared to what we usually see in Hitman games.

007: First Light is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S and will be released in 2026.
