Rumour: Microsoft and Nintendo close to bringing Call of Duty to Switch 2
While PlayStation and Xbox were looking for compromises on the future of Call of Duty, there was also an active conversation about porting the cult shooter to Nintendo Switch (or, more precisely, Switch 2). And, probably, the talks have gone so far that it won't be long now.
Here's What We Know
Call of Duty remains one of the main shooters in the industry, but its presence on Nintendo platforms has been absent until now. However, back in 2022, Phil Spencer said: "Microsoft made a 10-year commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo after the merger of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King." Until now, there was nothing substantial to confirm this intention.
However, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was recently announced at Xbox Games Showcase 2025. This could be the perfect moment for the series to debut on the Nintendo platform.
According to Kotaku's Ethan Gach, Call of Duty will soon appear on Switch 2. "Sources tell Kotaku that both Microsoft and Nintendo are still working on bringing Call of Duty to the latter's hardware and will announce something in the future," the report says.
For Nintendo, this means expanding its game library with one of the biggest titles on the market, which will certainly attract new players. For Microsoft, it means delivering on promises and further expanding the reach of Call of Duty, making it accessible to an even larger audience. We can only look forward to official confirmation and possibly new details on how exactly Call of Duty will adapt to the Switch 2's capabilities.
