Snap is preparing to launch mass market augmented reality smartglasses. The device is called Specs and will be available as early as 2026.

Here's What We Know

Snap Specs will be a fully autonomous gadget that works without being tied to a smartphone. For this purpose, the glasses have a built-in processor, battery and a special operating system Snap OS.

The glasses will recognise gestures, respond to voice control and track hand movements.

The developer is betting big on AI integration and for that Snap has enlisted the support of OpenAI and Google, and is partnering with Niantic to build spatial maps.

Specs is reported to have more than $3bn invested in its development.

Snap plans to offer Specs to customers as an affordable alternative to, for example, Apple Vision Pro or Meta Ray-Ban. Probably, the price of the glasses will be around $300, which is significantly lower than similar devices.
The glasses will be part of the Snapchat ecosystem and will get Lens Studio support for creating your own AR effects.

The Snap Specs launch date, exact specifications and price will be revealed later.
