Chinese electric car maker Nio has entered into a new partnership agreement to expand its presence in Europe. The Greek company Motodynamics has agreed to cooperate with Nio's Dutch subsidiary Nextev Europe Holding BV. They will now distribute cars and accessories of the Nio and Firefly brands in Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria.

Here's What We Know

This is not the first expansion of Nio in Europe recently. On 3 June, the company announced distribution agreements to enter seven new European markets. Between 2025 and 2026, Nio plans to launch its models in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland and Romania.

In these markets, the company will introduce five models: the Nio ES6 (renamed EL6 in Europe), Nio ES8 (EL8), Nio ET5, Nio ET5 Touring and the only Firefly model so far, the Firefly EV. In Belgium and Luxembourg, Nio will work with Hedin Mobility Group and in Central and Eastern Europe with AutoWallis.

Nio's core brand vehicles are now available in Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark. The company is accelerating international expansion through partnerships with local distributors and plans to bring the more affordable Firefly model to overseas markets.

Incidentally, long-term tests of the Firefly in Europe began on 9 June. Two product managers drove the vehicle from Berlin to drive it through seven countries: Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy and Austria. The test will last 15 days and cover more than 5,500 kilometres.
