Galaxy Fold 7 may receive Snapdragon 8 Elite - FCC data
Samsung is preparing to announce a new line of foldable smartphones, including Galaxy Fold 7, Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE. The presentation is expected to take place in mid-July. It is already known that Galaxy Fold 7 will be the company's thinnest folding smartphone.
Here's What We Know
Galaxy Fold 7 has recently appeared in the FCC database, the US radio equipment certification agency. It was confirmed that the smartphone will receive the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor (codename SM8750). This upgrade will provide a noticeable performance boost over the previous Fold 6 powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In addition to power, the new chip has better energy efficiency, which is important because the battery will remain the same - 4400 mAh.
Samsung has already demonstrated a similar approach with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which lasts longer than its predecessor with the same battery capacity.
At the same time, the Galaxy Fold 7 will run One UI 8 based on Android 16, which is still in the early stages of development.
The FCC certification also confirms support for 5G, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Wi-Fi 7, the latest wireless standards. The smartphone will support wireless charging and charge other devices from its battery.
According to previous leaks, the Galaxy Fold 7 could be even thinner than its predecessor, reaching just 4.5 mm when unfolded.
Importantly, the FCC's data only refers to the US version, which will be powered by Snapdragon. For other markets, such as South Korea, an Exynos 2500 variant is expected. However, the Exynos version is rumoured to be exclusive to the Korean market.
