The long-awaited Vibrant Visuals update has finally received an official release date: 17 June. This is a significant event for millions of players, as Mojang is preparing a real visual breakthrough that will give the iconic pixel graphics a new lease of life, making them even more atmospheric and exciting. Forget about the usual landscapes - Minecraft will become even more beautiful.

Here's What We Know

We knew that Mojang was planning a visual update for Minecraft, and the studio released a new video that not only reminded us what Vibrant Visuals brings to the game, enhancing "visual elements like directional lighting, volumetric fog, and more," but also showed us how the team achieved this.

And the new feature really takes the Minecraft world to the next level. As the developer explains, "each biome has its own atmosphere", so warmer biomes will appear more orange and yellowish, while cooler ones will take on a more distinct blue hue. This means that your journeys through the Minecraft world will be even more immersive and visually appealing, allowing you to experience the diversity of biomes in a new way.

"This is a visual enhancement - there are no changes to Minecraft gameplay," Mojang said. "For example, visual shadows will not affect lighting levels in a game-mechanical sense or affect where enemy mobs appear. Vibrant Visuals will be easily accessible and suitable for many Minecraft players, as it will be available on many platforms as a simple menu toggle."

"This is the beginning of this journey of modernising the look and feel of Minecraft," explained Dejan Dimic, head of Vibrant Visuals. "So we look forward to hearing more feedback from players."

Vibrant Visuals will be coming to supported devices for those using Minecraft Bedrock Edition, and if your device can run it, you can expect the new feature to be enabled by default after an update. It is not yet available for the Java Edition.
