Xiaomi has postponed the launch of the YU7 electric car from July to the end of June

Xiaomi has postponed the date of public premiere of its YU7 crossover. Initially, in May this year, the company promised to release the novelty in July. However, now the founder and head of Xiaomi Lei Jun said in Weibo that the YU7 will appear in public at the end of June.

According to him, a lot of Xiaomi's new products will be unveiled at one grand event. So, in addition to YU7 there will show a tablet with Xiaomi's own Xring O1 chip - Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro.

In terms of dimensions, the YU7 is close to the Tesla Model X: the length of the body is almost 5 metres, and the wheelbase reaches 3 metres. The interior is designed in a minimalist style with two screens: a 16.1-inch centre screen and a 43.3-inch wide panoramic display at the base of the windscreen.

The base version has a single 320 hp (235 kW) engine and a 96.3 kWh battery, providing a range of 835 kilometres (CLTC). The YU7 Pro version gets two engines (496 hp) and all-wheel drive, with a range of 760 kilometres. The top YU7 Max version also has two engines (690 hp), a 101.7 kWh battery and can travel up to 770 kilometres on a single charge.

Fast charging can replenish up to 80 per cent of the battery capacity in just 12 minutes, and in 15 minutes, you can get a range of up to 620 km.

Xiaomi hasn't revealed pricing yet, but the company's founder Lei Jun previously denied rumours of a 200,000 yuan starting price for the YU7. According to him, taking into account the level of equipment YU7 should cost 60-70 thousand yuan ($8,300 - $9,700) more expensive than the Tesla Model Y, the minimum price of which in China is 263,500 yuan ($36,600). The final price is promised to be announced shortly before the public presentation.
