The first foldable iPhone is close to going into mass production: insider shares news about Apple's ambitious gadget
Authoritative insider Ming-Chi Kuo continues to share important news about the development progress of the first foldable iPhone model.
Here's What We Know
According to the informant, Apple continues to engage in preparatory work and in the third quarter of 2025 (or at the beginning of the fourth quarter) plans to engage Foxconn, which is engaged in direct production of the iPhone, to create the gadget.
Unfortunately, many specifications, including the liquid metal hinge, remain unapproved at this time.
The start of mass production of the folding iPhone is expected in July-August 2026, and the presentation and launch of the device on sale - in autumn 2026.
Flashback
According to Ming-Chi Kuo's previous insights, the foldable gadget's inner screen diagonal will be 7.8″ without folds, while the outer screen will be 5.5″. When folded, the device will be 9 to 9.5mm thick, while when unfolded it will be 4.5mm to 4.8mm thick.
The foldable iPhone will get a titanium alloy body, dual rear camera and single front camera, and Touch ID instead of Face ID.
The screens for the new device are expected to be supplied by Samsung Display, and according to leaks Apple has ordered 15-20 million displays.
According to preliminary estimates, the price of the gadget will be $2000-2500, but given Trump's economic policies, closer to release, the price may rise.
