Rumour: iPhone will get a front-facing camera under the screen in 2030

Those who dream of the perfect iPhone without any notches will have to be patient. According to Ross Young, a respected display analyst from Counterpoint Research, the true all-screen iPhone will disappear from the face... that is, the Dynamic Island face, only in 2030. Yes, five more years of looking at a black pill on the screen.

What is known

The next iPhone 18 Pro, according to Young, will not have a camera in a separate hole in the corner, as The Information claimed. Instead, Apple will simply reduce the size of the Dynamic Island by hiding part of the Face ID system under the display. This is also confirmed by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

But in 2027, when the iPhone will celebrate its 20th anniversary, we should not expect a revolutionary "clean" screen. Young believes that the Dynamic Island will remain, just more compact. This contradicts Gurman's predictions, who hinted at a completely bezel-less design with no notches.

The most interesting things will start in 2028. Face ID will move completely under the display, but the front-facing camera will still stick out as a tiny hole in the corner. According to Young, Apple will finally hide the front camera under the screen (and, as always, "reinvent the in-screen camera") by 2030. That's when the era of the true all-screen iPhone will come - without cutouts, holes, and reminders that technological progress is not always instantaneous.

Another interesting detail: according to developer Filip Vabroušek, the iPhone 2027 will have ultra-thin bezels and curved glass at the edges. Whether this is true is an open question, because Ross Young himself was neutral about this idea: he says that I cannot confirm it, but I do not deny it either.
