Rumour: Apple to release iPhone Fold in 2026

Apple is finally approaching the release of its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Fold. It is reported by 9to5mac. The official announcement is expected in autumn 2026, but thanks to a new leak from the famous Chinese source Digital Chat Station, the first characteristics of the gadget, which promises to become a competitor to Galaxy Fold, are already known.

What is known

According to insiders, the iPhone Fold is currently undergoing incomplete testing, which means that Apple engineers can still change some of the parameters. But at the moment, we know the following:

  • Internal display - 7.58 inches (less than the previously predicted 7.8 inches)
  • Cameras - two modules of 48 MP each
  • Hinge - made of a composite material based on durable but amorphous metal glass (yes, it sounds like something from Star Wars)
  • Body - titanium

In terms of size, the iPhone Fold is more like a compact iPad mini - it seems that Apple has relied not on a giant screen, but on the convenience of using it with one hand (well, at least when folded).

As for the cameras, two 48-megapixel modules are quite logical, because with the iPhone 17 Pro, all lines will receive an upgrade to 48 MP. Most likely, these will be wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle optics, but it is possible that Apple will replace one of the modules with a telephoto lens.

Interestingly, the metal-glass composite hinge is an attempt to solve the main problem of all folding smartphones: the durability of the mechanism. And if Cupertino has really solved this problem, hello, Samsung, it will be hot.

We would like to remind you that analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also confirmed that work on the first foldable iPhone is in full swing, but there is still time before the final.

It seems that 2026 promises to be interesting for everyone who loves apples... in a titanium case and with a foldable character.
