For a year, rumours have been circulating that Ubisoft is developing a remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - a game that, despite its controversial plot, is considered one of the best parts of the series despite being released back in 2013.

Reputable insiders have repeatedly spoken out about the remake, but now the game's lead actor has joined those conversations.

Here's What We Know

British actor Matt Ryan, who played the role of charismatic pirate Edward Kenway in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, has subtly hinted that rumours of a remake are not unfounded. While chatting to fans, Ryan asked one of them if he had played Black Flag and with a sweet smile clarified that he might have to do it again soon, but declined to comment further.

Earlier Tom Henderson reported that the Assassinʼs Creed 4: Black Flag remake is being developed on an updated version of the Anvil engine and the footage he saw impressed him.

It was thought that the remake could be released in 2025, but Ubisoft's plans have been pushed back somewhat due to the release of Assassinʼs Creed Shadows.
